I want to write
I want to write the words of my people.
I want to hear their voices above all the world.
I want to catch the last heart-broken words they speak.
I want to frame their hopes in my words; their hearts in my songs.
I want to catch their carefree laughter;
hold their precious dreams up high,
show them to the world
then capture them forever in my words till they become
the words of everyone.

Alright, so this piece is based off this poem. We had to write a modified version of the poem in 10th grade...so here's mine. Oh, and it's written from the POV of Esperanza Cordero, the main character of The House on Mango Street.
